You forgot LM Alcott like Rose in Bloom and Old Fashioned Girl. I reread those books so much as a young adult. Also you mentioned AGG and the Emily series by LM Montgomery but one of my favorite romances was in Blue Castle. (I guess I really related to that one). You should also read Frenchman's creek by du Maurier. It is more of a romance/adventure vs Rebecca. Other favorite authors who do good romances without being too overdone: Susanna Kearsley, Mary Stewart, and Kate Morton. AND regarding non-fiction: two-part invention my Madeline Elengle (sp) is perfect. And the writings by CS Lewis regarding his wife and touching as well.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny that you should mention both Rose in Bloom and The Blue Castle because I haven't read either, but I made a specific goal to read both of them in 2017. I'm so glad to hear they have some sweet romance in them! Thanks for the other recommendations as well!
DeleteAlso, I have to agree with Suzanne that Char in Ella Enchanted was perfectly dreamy.
ReplyDeleteThis was one of my favorite book blabs! Loved the topic and loved how many book recommendations there were! So many I want to add to my booklist.
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Amanda!
